Pretty place set in lovely gardens (complete with tortoises) however we found the inside a little underwhelming partly because we were unsure of the back story behind the frescoes. We gatecrashed a tour group of Germans and heard some of the explanation which sounded very...More

We toured the small church when a baptism was in progress. The frescoes and church are definitely worth a look as you your the town.

This church is so precious and full of history! Do not miss it, take time to enjoy and watch the frescoes, some which are unique in the world.

The frescos are are fab. I'd advise setting your expectations before you go. These superb frescos have been painstakingly restored after being covered with whitewash for five centuries. If frescos are not your thing, then best go elsewhere. The church is also constructed in a...More

A beautiful church that's worth the entry fee to see the church friezes but also interesting for the buildings history and its different purposes and uses. Additionally there are 3 tortoises in the garden which was an odd but pleasant surprise!

An authentic, old stone building, with a small garden, pretty well perserved inside. It is a place that should be visited in a city tour.

Ohrid is really so full of various religious monuments, but Church of Saint Sophia is definitely one of the biggest ones in the city. Surrounded with many restaurants and easy to find, just a short walk off the main shopping/parking area.

This church is beautiful inside with very well preserved frescoes, even though (and perhaps because) they were covered up during a time the church was converted to a mosque. There is a newer floor, but some parts of the old floor are glassed over for...More

Indeed it can be visited. Taking pictures is officially not allowed, but you have a good chance to succeed in it all the same, since normally there is only one guardian, the one that sell the tickets i the ticket booth. Good... More
