St. Clement took the work of Sts. Cyril and Methods and further refined the cyrillic alphabet as a monk here and they've dedicated this temple to him. However, it's not the only ancient church at this site. There's ruins of an ancient basilica with baptismal font nearby. The church is fairly newly restored so there's not a lot of ancient... More

The silhouette of this church is very impressive, with its curves, domes and bell-tower giving it an exoticly Eastern or Orthodox look. The vivid blue of Lake Ohrid behind it makes the scene even more appealing. However, this perfect profile is the result of heavy restoration work, so this place does not have the authentic patina of age of some... More

The history of this site begins with a Christian basilica. Since it fell into disrepair, the site has been transformed into a monastery (by Saint Clement around 900 AD), been enlarged, fallen into disrepair again, converted into a mosque (twice) and back into a Christian church. Most recently (2000-2002), the current church was fully reconstructed by hand, using materials from... More

This huge church is a wonder! At the entrance, there was a guard and prices were noted, but he told us to enter, just like everybody else, so I'm not sure if it's either free or paying?! The place is really nice, extremely well designed building! You can stroll around the ruins but nothing tremendous. There is an old chapel... More

Sveti Kliment Ohridski is in Plaošnik and has been restored to it's former glory. The monastery has had quite a history with it being turned into a mosque during Ottoman rule and then over the years reduced to ruins, it is now looking stunning with Lake Ohrid as a backdrop. Plaošnik itself is an interesting archaeological site and is a... More

You should definitely make time to visit this church at Plaosnik during your stay in Ohrid. It has been newly reconstructed and there is still work going on nearby, but it is nevertheless a lovely place to visit. It is midway between Sv Jovan Kaneo and the fortress so it makes a convenient place to break your hike. There is... More

The church is neatly restored to its former state. No photos allowed inside. They have some archeological artifacts uncovered during excavation under glass in the floor inside the church. There is major construction going on around the church. None of the signs were in English though.

The building has its own unique architecture but when i was there, there were few conservation works. If you're lucky they wont charge you entrance fee. I got in the for free. To get there, you have to do a little climb from the oldtown.
