Having never even heard of Macedonia until I met my best friend five years ago I would call this one of Europe's hidden gems. Ohrid reminds me a lot of Capri, Italy only much cheaper and less crowds. It's truly spectacular

We stayed at the Villa Klia which had a great view of the lake..most of our day was spent staring at the lake from our balcony(was too hot to go out) and the evening sunsets were a view to gorge on..!

The lake is beautiful, clean, clear, and perfect for a swim on a hot day. There were tiny little fish swimming all around! It was gorgeous.

Lake ohrid is a place to stay overnight... the town or place cannot be enjoyed in a day trip as there's 3 hours of winding road driving each way from skopje. It's better staying overnight or 2 days to really enjoy the town and place....More
