We hiked to Altar Mountain base and yellow lake over two days. The trail is lovely though muddy at times. The views on clear day is simply out of the world. There's a hut to stay at the end of the trail.

500 BC, was the world's largest mountain, is an excellent place to get in touch with nature and away from civilization. Here you can go climbing, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, etc.

I would highly sugguest it. Bring boots because in rainy season there is knee deep mud. However it is completely worth it. Amazing views. One of my favorites from all of south america
