It's a hit or miss sort of place and sadly our visit was a miss. We wanted to see the butterfly garden and found not a single live butterfly. The silence was a nice break from the bustling sound of city life but our cab had trouble finding the place. The botanical garden has an admirable mission but it has... More

For lovers of nature, Guayaquil has the perfect place, I refer to the Jardin Botanico. It is located in the Cerro Colorado and it has characteristics of a tropical dry Forest. This is divided in to three sections that can be crossed through comfortable paths. In this place, we can find more than 324 species of trees: guayacan, robles, fruit trees... More

On the top of a hill, with a good view of the river and suburbs below, the garden didn't live up to their descriptions. The orchid house was quite small with about 10 plants in flower (4 different species), the other 50-60 orchids being dormant. The bonsai section had 4 nice specimens. The cactus section was pathetic. There was one... More

This place has virtually nothing there that they have on their map, but conversely many things you wouldn't think they would, they do have, including many animals in cages. They don't have hardly any orchids in the Orchid House the largest orchid in the world that supposed to be there is not, I did not see any of the medicinal... More

Guayaquil's botanical gardens are home to over 325 species of native and imported tropical flora. Well-tended paths wind through sections of ornamental plants. As well as medicinal plants and herbs, fruit and lumber trees, and various crops. It is an amazing place where you can breathe pure air and walk with your friends and family. It is something that you... More
