Beautiful small town (Old Baska)
May 2021 • Couples
Stara baska is a hidden pearl... it’s a very small harbour and has a couple of nice restaurants. The beaches here are small but perfect. If you want some privacy you can take the path along the coast line to get to one of the beaches

Zala Beach
Jun 2019 • Friends
Visited Zala beach during a weekday in June and it was a great idea; only few people on the beach. The water was cold on the surface but warm down at the bottom, which was a weird experience, but nice :-). You might need an umbrella during a sunny day as there it not much shadow (4e is to borrow at the place). This is a great place at the end of the town, reachable by car (the parking on the left is free of charge). I recommend to visit for a day.

Great restaurant in a sleepy coastal village
Jun 2019 • Friends
Our visit here was brief- just part of the half day trip, yet the views and feel of the village were lovely. The restaurant served delicious food - sadly the menus were only available in Italian and German but they said Croatian and English ones are coming soon. The food was amazing..... and the views reminiscent of ancient Greece.

treacherous but BEAUTIFUL!!

You have to o this drive at least once!! The first time we did it was totally by accident! My husband who is from Krk had never been there!! The angle and steepness of the road is overwhelming, (go slow), the VIEWS and color of the water , BREATHTAKING!! It reminded me of California a bit, but there is no water that color in California!! the road is also so narrow that you at times have to stop to let others pass!! When you look at the terrain and realize that this is the first place the locals live, you wonder HOW did they do it?? Very dry and rocky....a must see!!!

Not worth the walk
Aug 2018 • Family
We knew that there would be a trek but felt it was worth it to escape the crowds, everyone must have had the same idea!

Lovely cove but crowded and sea definitely felt colder than elsewhere on the island.

Zala Beach - Stara Beach
Jul 2018 • Couples
Sometimes its not just the beach that captures the imagination - but in thhis case it was the journey getting there.
Having a bit of time during our stay at Baska we decided to take a drive to the other side of the mountain range to Krk and then head down to Stara Baska nad see what was there.
The ride was ok to Punat but it really started to get exciting when we entered Stara Baska and there the one way road really starts to be a challenge for the SUV.
We didn't give up hope as I wanted to go to the last beach - Zala. The drive became a spectacular downhill drive from the top vantage point. The serpentine road with the steep decline was simply a super challenge, even more as the beachgoers had parked their vehicles on the upwards side of the road. Mid afternoon the traffic was not bad - but the number of cars that were parked on the winding road made you wonder how good the beach must be. The road final become less of a risk and the goal to find a parking spot. Closer to the beach signs indicate that you had to pay for that access but I didn't find anyone in the toll booth later when walking past it.
After the drive you need to spend some time on this beach to recover. The scenery is plenty good for this cove with deep blue color surrounded by steep embankments on either side.
You need you aqua slippers as it is stony. Enjoy this place if you took the time to get there.
