This town looks like a movie set and is quite charming. Everything was closed in the winter and the town is devoid of tourists. We felt like we had the whole town to ourselves being the only people walking the streets.

I went to see this ancient walled village and was pleasantly surprised. It is absolutely beautiful and you can imagine what it would have been like to live there in the olden times. The views from the wall into the valley is sensational. There are magnificent irrigated fields growing a number of crops. Inside the walled village are many interesting... More

Absolutelly lovely place. Cars are not allowed inside, but it's a such a small town that you will manage to walk around. And the walk is wonderful! Charming, cosy, sunny, must see!

You get bussed up to near the top of the hill and then walk up the narrow cobbled streets. Enjoy a circuit of the ramparts (and see the huge straw man).

City was built in the 13th century. Walls are still in perfect condition. However compared to groznjan, cars are allowed. This fact gives a taste of more modernity to the city. This is why I preferred Groznjan. We can either take a bus to go up, or you drive yourself (we did). One hour is enough to walk the walls.... More

If you stay in Motovun in October and you are early enough, the sunlight over the fog in the valley gives you an absolutely great experience.

The square at the top of the climb offers some wonderful architectural artifacts, photos and stories.

I was surprised by how beautiful the town was. It has nice energy and lots of good restaurant. I think that September and October are probably the best time for visit, as it is not to hot, colors are vivid and you can it is good time for eating truffles.

Tiny fortified village perched on a hill top can be seen for several miles away. Park outside and walk into narrow streets and crumbling history. Notice how quiet it is when the tourists have all gone.

We got to cycle to the city from the bottom -- about 1600 foot climb over 3 kilometers! Very quaint city that gets a lot slower at night when the tour buses leave. Not a lot to explore as the city is not that large. Very nice views!
