After many years back I visited this place because I wanted this part of the Croatian show her children and husband. We were enchanted by the beauty, tidiness and beautiful presentation of the village. Recommendation to see it.

I have been here long time ago during former Yugoslavia to see where Josip Broz Tito was born. After so many years I came back because I was curious how it is now. And I was glad to came. Now whole village is reconstructed and represents the way of life of people in the 19 th century with more then... More

This walk about open air museum centers around the birthplace and ancestral home of the late Marshal Tito. The properties (including the neighbours houses) have been renovated and filled with items from about 100 years ago. The construction methods, sizes (low doors) and layouts are interesting (drop toilet on the second floor). There is also a nice collection of fire... More

The Staro Selo museum is an open air village which is a walk back in time even though there are still some original inhabitants. The birthplace of Marshall Tito is also there. The village is now open to the public even though it is owned by the government.

Out in the country side of Zagreb lies the reconstructed village depicting everyday life of farmers in Croatia, early 1900 - 1950. Several homes are on display i.e. tailors and dressmakers; looms and weavers; bakers; candlestick makers; farmers; clay potters; etc. Read about the history of Tito Marshal and the traditions of the period, including a wedding feast. Well organized... More

I would recommend this place to everyone who are interested in getting to know the tradition of this part of Croatia. It will lead you to the past of how people lived, to their habits and how the villages used to look like. There is a house where Josip Broz Tito lived and his statue as well.

Zagorje is a hilly region an hour drive north west of Zagreb. The nature there is beautiful for sure, but the region bursts with history too. Possible to visit some attractions on a day trip from Zagreb, but definitely worth staying a few days; plenty of hiking opportunities. I took the only morning bus from Zagreb's main bus station at... We went here mostly to see marshall Tito's birthouse and to celebrate "Youth's day", but we were delighted to see preserved old houses and display of customs from Croatian northwest region Zagorje. It is a nice place to see and spend some quality time they also offer an exibition of items and gifts Tito recived from other foreign officials in... More

This was an interesting open air museum which did a nice job of displaying life in the early 20th century in rural Croatia. There are small buildings that make up several different displays. There is a building dedicated to the first fire station, a pottery maker, the blacksmith shop, etc. Many of the buildings are original. The actual village where... More
