Built in the first Century BC, and later became the capital of the Uighur Kingdom in the 8th Century. A big site, not so well preserved.

This place is huge and it is definitely advised to join the buggy tour for RMB 30 per head. Including the buggy the price per person is RMB 100 which is a bit high for what you see. There are lots of ruins but unfortunately...More

We have visited 2 ruins in this area. This is a less well preserved site. The site is massive and there will be a buggy to take you around. It will make 3 stops. History wise, this site is interesting. However, it does require a...More

You can choose either jiaoher or gaochang. They are quite the same. Just pick one place. The site was the ancient city. I spent 2 hr here. Take the shuttle service as the place was quite big. You are not able to walk around.

The site is enormous and it would be best to visit with a guide. While there is a lot of destruction it is mind boggling to envision what this place actually looked like. A wonderful place to see.

We visited these ruins a couple weeks after the Chinese national holiday and the day after we saw Jiaohe. Compared to Jioahe, there is a lot more destruction, and more imagination required. There is a lot of open space inside the city walls, but the...More

It had three sets of walls still standing as well as many buildings. It was too big to convey in single photos. It was so immense that they provided a little shuttle bus to take us to the ruins and around it with stops at...More
