The Kong mansion is really big. Full of garden with beautiful flowers and also a lot of palaces. It can be easy to lose your way :P it worth a visi for sure.

This is the second time I been writing a negative review in Qufu. This area is not Confucius home. It was basically a market. There were women insisting on selling books and will stop at nothing until you get it. It was a huge mob and even inside the mansion was some markets and noise. Totally unacceptable. However, practically the... More

The second part of the Qufu Kong triad of sites is the most disappointing. There are many pavilions and pagodas, but only a couple of them are actually open. Four in fact. And you can only go to the doors and peer inside, along with the 00's of other visitors all straining and craning to get a look. A huge... More

It is really worth seeing this mansion as well as the temple and if possible getting a guide to help you navigate but more importantly to appreciate the whole story of Confucius and his rise to fame an importance in Chinese culture. The mansion gives a fascinating insight in to life and government at the time and has many architectural... More

This family mansion is where the descendants of Confucius once lived. It is now a museum and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The complex is rather huge, with many halls and pavilions, some of them being converted as shops. There are short Chinese and English explanation posted at each hall/pavilion. I must admit the architecture design all look... More

East of the Temple of Confucius, is the Confucius Family Mansion (Kong Fu). Kong is the family surname of Confucius and his descendants. His mansion is also located in the same site of Temple of Confucius. The family tended to the Confucian sites in Qufu and also governed the largest private rural estate in China from the mansion. The Kong... More

Interesting and romantic little experience indeed. A lot of tucked away alleys and hiding spots... It was a pity I didn't do my research and figure out that Confucius didn't live here himself, great visit though nonetheless. A lot of interesting stories and information about the politics, family and traditional Chinese ways in the small stories and introductions strewed throughout.

I came to Qufu with not much knowledge and excpectations about confucius. But when I walk this mansion I was quite impressed. It can be well compared to other building complexes like the forbidden city in Beijing, just smaller. I really liked the big and green garden area in the back.

The mansion is quite nice. Gives you a better understanding of Confucius and his importance in Chinese (Japanese and Korean, too) culture.
