We visited the Mountain Resort on 30th October. The day was grey and dull. Everything was shut for Winter.. no boats; Pagoda locked up; no train to ferry you to the northern section; could not get up wall to view the mini Potala Palace. The entrance fees went to winter pricing the following day. We felt ripped off given everything... More

This place is huge, approx 2.2 sq miles and one will need more than a day to go thru the whole complex. This is a must visit attraction for history buffs. It was interesting to see a frozen lake and to walk on a frozen solid river, especially for the kids as we come from a tropical country. Its a... More

The summer palace was the retreat for the emperors when th eweather got hot in Beijing. Today it is a large park as well as housing the royal apartments and the longest painted corridor in the world. The gallery alone is worth th evisit, with beautiful paintings on every surface. You can climb through the pagodas to view the whole... More

Chengde is not as used to westerners as we expected. The summer resort is very picturesque but in need of some renovation. It is also smaller than expected and charges much more in terms of entry fees than anywhere else we visited in China, including the Forbidden City in Beijing with which it does not compare. The park area is... More

Lovely extensive grounds to walk around and take trips around the lovely lakes. Good for a half or whole day out, especially in nice weather. Very pretty and peaceful gardens, interspersed with calm lakes and flowers. A lovely scenic and relaxing place including lovely buildings and lots of history. A must see in Chengde.

Been here with my girlfriend on Sept 16 2016. We had not the best weather (26 degrees, but cloudy), this meant it wasn't that crowded. We actually did find spots where we were alone for 10 minutes. The park was a beautiful sight to see. Make sure you pack something to eat at one of the many pavilions. You will... More

Very impressive trip at Cheng De city! I was there 38 years ago while this is the first time my husband went. However, I do not remember much of it since I was only 18 yrs old when I first went . With my hubby together ,we visited many lake and water wonders,we explored this vast summer imperial palace where... More
