Not very much to see, but it's very presence alone will intrigue every visitor. This mosque is the oldest in this part of the world. Much older than any mosque in Indonesia and Malaysia. It was completed in the beginning of the 11th century. Islam...More

The old mosque has historical interest but there's not much to see and not much in the way of any museum type displays. Allow 15 minutes max in fact on the way to other temples. The stone work is mostly there but the roof is...More

You are free to roam about and take pictures so long as you do not walk into the prayer hall (whether a solat is in session or not). The only oddity is that they charge an entrance fee.

This Mosque is over a thousand years old. Built around 595 - 605 AD now stands in ruins. Not much to see for those who do not like history but a lot to learn about how the Arab arrived in China in the early years.

Very peaceful mosque with an interesting history and clearly still well used. It's also set in an interesting area to wander about. The tiny shop is worth a stop, it's well priced and we bought several Islamic/Chinese cups and a tea set.

This is simultaneously the ruins of a 1000+ year old mosque (in a city that was, after all, founded by Arab traders in China), a modern renovation, and an active place of worship. The older parts are of course most scenic. The whole place no...More

This mosque was originally built about 1300 years ago, around 600 AD. Not many people know that the Muslims came to China long time before Marco Polo. This fact is not well known because most people only learn the Euro-centric version of Chinese history. Though...More
