A long time to get there. Driving on a riverbed on an improvised road. Once you get there the roch formations and the colors are fantastic. In fact, you are at the bottom of a volcano's crater going back millions of years. The erosion did the rest. Really worth the visit. Wonderful on a sunny day.

Rainbow valley was stunning. We went with turis tours who were very good. We also went to Rio Grande village - a good chat as we walked round but it would have been good to go in a house or even the church. The rock art was OK and very old - fortunately the guide brought it to life!

We went to San Pedro de Atacama in early March 2017 and spent 6-7 days visiting the main attractions. The Valle de Arco Iris was the best of all. They are incredible mountains, with amazing formations and incredible combination of colours (more colours than the rainbow, actually). The tour is good for 1/2 day to a full day. It is... More

Among San Pedro de Atacama's many sites, Rainbow Valley is truly a must see! So much is packed into one walk through the desert. I went with Explora Atacama, but I’m sure other companies provide a similar itinerary. Begin with the dramatic desert landscape, sculpted over millions of years vividly colored with various ores – green for copper, red for... More

Beautiful trip in the desert with colorful rocks all around. The walk was very nice and we talked about geology, rocks and their unique colours. Perfect if you want to take beautiful pictures.

This is an easy half day trip to a spectacular valley. Many weird shapes of rocks and hills through erosion full of different compositions of minerals. Green, reds, white, yellow, blueish it's all there and it contrasts sharply with the deep blue morningsky. For those who love landscapes incl those enjoying photographing them highly recommended. But make sure to come... More

In my opinion its not a must see. You can have a few good hours there, but we went there with an own car and didnt have to pay an tour operator and if you are expecting stunning different colours in the mountains its not like this :). So I wouldnt pay for an tour to this Valley. But still... More

Easy walking around in the valley to more closely examine the colorful minerals. Photographs galore. Get a guide knowledgeable in Chilean geology to fully enjoy it. And hope to see the lamas from the farm in the salt river valley as you enter the Valley.
