One of the best markets I've been to.

I have been to this market multiple times. So much to see here. I could actually spend much more time exploring. We had a tour guide and he took us on a very interesting tour. Explaining all the fruit, vegetable and other staples they sell at the market. It is packed full of local people selling their goods. Many handmade... More

There's all kinds of stuff here from food to household products to clothing to medication to money changer...It seems to be the central place where everyone gather to purchase things. One can also notice villagers in hill tribe costumes doing their marketing here. It's a good place to soak in the busy atmosphere of the local life.

Big , daily market. You can get just about anything here ( but you will need to find it !) .. one or two tribal stalls selling modern work .. not aware of older items for sale. We pottered around on several occasions, often accompanied by a local, which helped enormously.

Market full of local colour with everyone buying food and battering. Plenty to see fruits we have never seen before life stock waiting to be bought. You seemed to be able to buy anything here. People having breakfast watching food being prepared wonderful sights sounds and smells.

Fresh produce, household goods, traditional and contemporary clothing, consumables, pharmaceuticals - everything. Kengtung is unaccustomed to foreigners, so be prepared for stares and shy responses from stallholders and customers alike. Stroll the market and enjoy the colours, sights and smells.

A great place to explore with a few different things on offer from the markets in neighbouring Thailand. The people are very friendly and curious towards western tourists, in a very nice way. Highly recommended for a half day of rambling.

This market is really for the local people and not for tourists, which makes it very interesting. Especially seeing the living fish that were caught only hours before was very interesting. We bought food and goods from the market with help from our guide Ywet Kham (freddietrekkingktg.blogspot.com), which was a lot of fun.

Plenty of colours, friendly faces, music and - as every market - smells ;) great experience! From vegetables, to beauty products, fake DVD, chicken and flip flop, you can find pretty much anything I guess. We always asked the vendors if we could take a picture of their stand and their answer was yes :)
