This is worth visiting in order to develop an appreciation for and understanding of Burmese architecture. However, like the Mandalay palace, the restoration was done somewhat hastily and glosses over the many details the original palace would have had.

Not the original, but great to see that has been restored to give us an insight in the Burmese History and Architecture. Also has a small museum for you to view as well.

The Kanbawzathadi Palace is definitely worth viewing. Although it is a reconstruction of the original Royal Palace, it is still a stunning property to view. The reproductions of the golden coach is gorgeous, as is the throne area.

Worth the 2.5 hour drive from Yangon to learn about the history of Myanmar and the first three great kings. Thankfully, we had been to the museum in Yangon the day before. I would recommend doing that since it puts a lot of what you...More

But doesn't detract, and quite interesting to observe. Not a lot inside Audience Hall: replica stately carriage, Lion throne room, paintings of Buddha's life

This place has been restored after it was destroyed in last war. Some of the old columns have been preserved in their damaged state and there is an old boat carved out of a single log. It has magnificent hall and throne room.

Since last year, it appears as some restoration work is taking place. It is still way overpriced at 10,000 Kyats for what it is. Hopefully that money is going to upgrade that place. With the proper artifacts, a clean, buffed floor, the right displays, this...More

The site is peaceful with nice views, and the reconstruction gives you an idea why Ralph Fitch was so impressed when he visited in 1586. The ancient teak logs, with their inscriptions are fascinating. It might not all be authentic, however it is worth the...More
