This BIG statue is not aesthetially interesting or beautiful. It's actually rather ugly and poorly done. Most people think its not as old as claimed. You will know why if you go (but it's not worth going out of your way to visit)

Enormous lying Buddha with outdoor replica. There's a lot to see in Bago and although this not the best Buddha it's worth seeing whilst you're there

It was only here that a lying Buddha does not mean a resting Buddha but a dying Buddha. NIRVANA is so close.

This reclining Buddha is so beautiful. Make a picture from behind the small lake. You have a good view . You can walk around the 70 meter long Buddha. Entrance part of your zone ticket.

just around the corner of the much more interesting indoor Buddha of Shwe Tal Yaung.this outdoor Buddha is impressive in size, and only in size. From the artistic point of view, it is poor, but still pittoresque and a nice sujjet for your holiday pictures.

Being outside means that when visiting this temple, there is little respite from the relentless sun. It is best therefore visited in the morning, rather than later in the day. A simple image (in comparison to many others), but worth the visit to admire it uniqueness. Almost free of commercialism also.

Very impressive place, hard to get the Budha completely on one photo. The place is not far from shwethalyaung Buddha. Seems not to be a big attraction to tourists, since i as the only one ot visit. Apparently the Buddha is planned to be covered by a shrine building (like shwethalyaung); its foundationts can be seen already.

Within the Bago Ancient Hathawaddy Cultural Heritage Zone and within the ticket, the Shwe Tha Lyaung is said to be the largest reclining Buddha at 180 feet in length and 52 feet in height. Of special interest are the pillows the Buddha's head is resting and the storyboard on the reverse side. There were many families enjoying the area, but... More
