Troyan monastery is one of the most worshiped monasteries in Bulgaria. It is situated in a picturescal area surrounded by forest and old time villages. It has played an important role into Bulgarian history many times. Vasil Levski (Bulgaria national hero) was using the place to hide himself when needed. The place is rennovated and accessible. The visit is free.... More

Great historical monument, a place that means a lot especially when thinking about Bulgarian liberty and one of the most important bulgarian man of all times - Vasil Levski. Go to enjoy the yard and architecture. It is great.

It is a nice place to visit but definitely not a monastery anymore. There is too much commercialization in the place.

It is historical monastery that survived Otoman rule of Bulgaria with amazing handpainted church. Gives you good insight of life of monks during from 17-19 century. Beatifull and spiritual (when not too busy with visitors). It is also fully functional ortodox Christian facility and offers rooms for rent based on experience of monastery life. Definitely worth a visit. You can... More

We have visited the Troyan Monastery a couple of times - it is a sacred place that is worth visiting. The miraculous icon Three-handed Mother of God is attracting people from all over the country, seeking for health and prosperity. Highly recommend this place! There is a magic in it!

The café stall outside is overpriced and does... More

If you've chosen to visit this part of Bulgaria, Troyan Monastery is a must on your list. A historical sanctuary with a nice church inside. A lot to see and learn. Beautiful surroundings.

Such a peaceful place to visit all year around. The landscape, the nature and how well maintained this place is gives a great impression from the moment you enter. This monastery holds so much history, and believe it or not there is really something very spiritual and energizing about this place. I have been there 3 times and I feel... More

Nice place, but a bit commercial. I couldn't feel the spirit of this place. I think the most interesting part was the big church and the hiding place of Vassil Levski. The Troyan monastery is part of the 100 places where you can obtain a stamp. The car park is 1 lev, but if you cross the bridge you can... More
