Neighbourhood: Bela Vista
Known for its Italian cantinas, Bela Vista is the place to go for great pasta. Also called “Bixiga”, the area is an important cultural part of the city, with the bohemian and the religious costumes of its inhabitants on full display. In August, the large Nossa Senhora Achiropita party fills the streets with a variety of Italian food and music. You can experience the liveliness of the neighbourhood walking through the antiquities fair at Dom Orione Square or visiting the “Brazilian Caminito”, a version of the Argentinian street complete with colorful buildings. Bela Vista is also home to the traditional samba school “Vai-Vai”. Buy a ticket to a rehearsal and get a taste of what Carnival is like.

Free to roam on a Sunday
Feb 2020
This road is closed to traffic on Sunday and is open for everyone to safely roam up and down.
Fantasic to watch all the groups of drummers, musicians, dancers even yoga as you shop freely.
Definitly worth a visit

Highly recommend the plaza if you have a few hours. Surprised to find the spring collection already out ahead of season.

Cultural and economic fusion!
Aug 2020 • Friends
The main business quarter of Sao Paulo. The streets are lined with museums, parks, galleries and shop. There is a mixture of modern and classical architecture, with full length graffiti art down the length of town blocks, next to historically, european influenced buildings. I would definitely recommend one of the many rooftop cafes to take in the view and to see the full length of the street.

Cool place
May 2019
It’s good business area and nice malls to visit. Great options to stay very close to the subway station. It’s near the Rua Agusta where the a lot night life . Few buildings you can go to the top and see the city .

Shockingly neglected
Mar 2020
This USED TO BE the city's postcard.
Incompetent authorities, excess of democracy and a soft approach to drug addiction turned this financial centre into an awful mess. Walk up and down the avenue and you'll encounter: drug addicts, homelessness, hawkers, dishevelled creatures roaming the place, beggars and a horrible bunch of people from somewhere going nowhere.
In summary, the place is not civilised.
Stay away.

Big street
Mar 2020 • Solo
The street has lots of restaurants and shopping opportunities. Normally it's closed for traffic on Sundays but when I was there it wasn't. Probably because of the corona virus.

Pure life

What a place! The heart of Sao Paulo. Busy with business people, shoppers and tourists during the week. Party, exercise, entertainment zone with live music, arts, food and drinks on Sunday.

Sunday closed off to traffic & Paulista Ave comes alive
Jan 2020
Market stalls, antique markets, street performers, food stalls, dogs with bows, the bizarre, the weird and the wonderfully exhuberant. Paulista Ave comes alive and it is fabulous!

It's a nice avenue to walk along and mingle with locals and tourists. Most companies have offices nearby. It has a lot of cafés and bars.
