Went with my girlfriend to see the place, experience the center of São Paolo, and buy shirts and souvenirs. While the way there is a bit dangerous for a turist the place is worth the trip. There are many good stores if you're into metal much and related things. Bought 5 t-shirts for cheap and some souvenirs. I recommend people... More

This attraction is located near the Republica metro. This area of Sao Paulo has a lot of homeless people. It is dirty and unsafe after dark. There is an open air market here, but the one located in Liberdale is much better. In addition, this business and many others is closed on Sundays.

One could say it's become a terribly standard, even gimmicky tourist attraction. I say you can never have enough of it :p

This located in the central area of SP, so you will find the weirdest moat interesting group of people hanging around here. There is tattoo parlours, cd shops, people braiding hair, rock style clothes..... You can come by metro or walk but be safe!

This is a must for every rock music lover. Huge number of stores with every single item you can imagine related to rock like instruments, memorabilia, clothes, CDs, vinyl, etc. You want it, you will find it and right in the center of the city.

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
To truly know São Paulo, you have to start at the old centre, full of history and landmarks with stories to tell. Get a taste of local food at the Municipal Market, and if you are brave enough, head to the crowded shopping street “25 de março” for cheap deals on a wide assortment of items. Beautiful buildings in this area include the Post Office Building, Luz Station, Pagé Gallery, Pateo do Colegio and the iconic “Viaduto do Chá”. If you find yourself amazed by the local language, the Museum of Portuguese Language is the place to go. Cultural centres, like Banco do Brasil’s, also offer a variety of entertainment options. Finally, if you fancy watching a Gregorian mass with organ music, stop by São Bento Monastery on a Sunday morning.
