This sculpture's location right next to the ocean is stunning. This is a stop to make for a picture showing you have been to Santos. While walking out to view this landmark up close I was surprised by the police presence. I never felt I was in an unsafe place, but understand they have had trouble with some of the... More

Only go if you like the photos, because nothing really to see than what you see in the photos, don't plan to go here waiting for a big attraction

The monument of Tomie Ohtake is the border between Sao Vicente and Santos and is located in the bay of Santos beach. It was built to remember about the Japanese immigrants who came to Brasil. The place is very clean and probably also one of the safest places of Santos. Many people hang out there during the evening when the... More

This is a monument opened to the public in 2008 - by the emperor Hiroito - to celebrate the 100 years of Japanese immigration to Brazil. The first immigrants entered the country through the seaport of Santos. The sculpture is monumental: steel, painted red, will have 15 m high, 20 m long and 2 m wide and be at the... More

The statue signifies Santos to me, you cannot miss it from anywhere on the beach. When the tide is high the waves make a strange noise under the monument. Besides the statue there is a heliport where the military police lands. There is also a surf school and a skate park. Great views of the island.

Walking along the beach front you cannot miss the sculpture. Seems a strangle place, but it fits with the atmosphere. Neat to see.

A nice place to see the ocean and the Beach Avenue. A nice place also to see the surfers and all the "people of the sea". It's a place for the skaters too. Almost "California".
