I recommend an excellent cachacaria on the side near the pinacoteca. Nice neo classical architecture. Everything is authentic there.

An old market, the first and only one in the city, busy and alive every day of the week. Packed with some typical restaurants, some of them part of the political city history, they offer the freshest local cuisine. A must.

This place has a lot of stores and restaurants, with typical food and locals objects to buy. The people that hope to know a little more about the gaucha culture, it is a good option.
