We visited Rio on our last stop travelling around South America and Eugênio was the best tour guide. Our first night in Rio we spent the night in a terrible hotel which we had booked through our travel agents back home, the following morning Eugênio picked us up for our tour and had informed us he was taking us to our new hotel and had gotten us tickets &transfers to watch Flamengo play at the Maracanã stadium which was amazing!! The day of our tour we were to visit christ the redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain however the weather was really bad so he took us around the city instead and arranged for tickets later in the week when the weather was better - the views were unbelievable. He made our time in Rio so relaxed and enjoyable. Its like travelling with a friend not a guide. I would 100% recommend everyone to use his services. Such a genuine man and so thoughful. You can tell he really loves his what he does.

We were three mature ladys (Janice, Diane and Chris) in Rio for one day before we headed to the Atlantic Forest for a birding trip. Eugenio picked us up at our hotel at 7:00am. We went to Sugarloaf, the Christ Statue, a lovely park. We had lunch and then he drove thru Rio pointing out sights. Stopped at Escadaria Selaron where he made sure we were safe. We had fun, laughed a lot. Learned a lot. Eugenio speaks excellant English. We would highly recommend Eugenio. Also, he goes above and beyond. Once we were at the Atlantic forest birding lodge (2 hours from Rio), Janice got sick and needed to return to Rio. Eugenio came and picked up Janice, took her to a Rio hotel, checked on her the next day to make sure she was OK. She was OK, so he arranged for add'l tours for her and transport to meet with Diane and Chris later in the trip. This is a kind and wonderful gentleman.

Eugenio is the best tour guide in Rio! I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a fun, informative tour of Rio. He stayed by our side the entire time and took us to all of the touristy spots in Rio that we were dying to visit: Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf Mountain, etc. I felt safe with Eugenio the entire time I was with him in Rio. Eugenio has to be one of the nicest people I have ever met and truly cares about his clients. He is very knowledagable when it comes to the city and his tours. It was refreshing to meet someone so passionate about his job and life in general. And hes's also hysterically funny! Thanks you, Eugenio, from the bottom of my heart for a weekend filled with memories I will never forget. I am officially in love with Rio and am already looking forward to coming back. I look forward to booking another tour with you again in the future!

You need a guide in Rio. Let me say that again: You need a guide in Rio. I don't care if you've LonelyPlaneted your way across the world already: unless you're fluent in Portuguese and have relatives in town, Rio is NOT the kind of place you can navigate on your own as a tourist. I have been to over fifty countries around the world and I've seen my share of tour guides, and they're not created equal. Eugenio Souza is exceptional. My husband and I had never been to Rio before, and despite being seasoned travelers, we were a bit nervous about what to do in our free time there, since Rio's massive sprawl and street crime (way beyond most large cities) make it rather intimidating. As soon as Eugenio met us at the airport, our worries disappeared, because it was evident within minutes that we were in supremely capable hands. Eugenio is truly an expert on his city. He tailored our tour exactly to our interests, gave us amazing advice on what was and wasn't worth our time, was totally straight with us about safety issues and what we could see on our own, and bent over backward to accommodate what we needed, whether it was vegetarian food (not a given in Rio!) or a souvenir for our kids. We saw things we wouldn't have thought to stop for, like a samba show in a nightclub that's a three-story antique shop (the building alone is worth the visit even without the music!), or a massive Belle Epoque bakery in the middle of downtown that drops you into the 19th century (I'm sure it's in the guidebook but the description didn't sound as cool as it is-- it's a showstopper), or a trail near Sugar Loaf that's the habitat of a particular bird, which he managed to lure into our sights with a YouTube recording of its song! Eugenio is not only friendly and knowledgeable. He also offers a really fascinating perspective on his city, because of his particular experience and interests: he is very urban-sophisticated and well-traveled (he worked for the national airline for many years and traveled the world), but he also has a real fascination with his country's natural wonders-- he's an avid birdwatcher and will turn you into one too (easy in South America with their amazing birds!), and he even has a "country house" in the jungle where he enjoys spending time in the rainforest, which made him a great guide not only for the city but also for the city's natural wonders like Tijuca Park or the Botanical Garden. You need a guide in Rio. And now you've found one! Flexible, accommodating, gracious, and full of amazing insights, Eugenio is the top of the top!

We will always be indebted to you for the care and concern you showed us on our return from Salvador to Rio at Rio airport. Had it not been for your actions of monitoring our flight from Salvador to Rio which was delayed by 45 minutes and returning to the airport to check our check in, as you were aware we had only been able to check myself in online and not Jo. With the added problem of having to collect our luggage from our domestic flight which for some reason was delayed in being delivered to the baggage carousel. On our exit from the lift from domestic to international flights and seeing you there where you swiftly took both our cases and guided us through to the British Airways check in desk which was on the verge of closing, had it not been for your actions we would have definitely missed our flight back to London. Thank you Eugenio for making our experience in Rio an exceptional stay with lots of great memories during our 3 days with you as our tour guide in Rio. Please accept our sincere gratitude for all your help at Rio de Janeiro airport
