About
In the top of the City is installed Christ the redeemer the most wanted touristic sides of Brazil and Rio de Janeiro. Biggest and most famous scripture Art Deco of the world, the Christ statue started to be planned in 1921 and it was developed by the engineer Heitor da Silva Costa over 6 years of job, from 1925 to 1931, the opening year of the monument. Located at Parque Nacional da Tijuca, 710 meter above the sea level, where anybody can appreciate one of the most beautiful views of the city. Over all 220 steps that lead to the famous statue feet, it was elected one of the Seven Wonders of the World made by formal voting in 2007 by the Swiss Institution New 7 Wonders Foundation. The monument is accessible by train, van or car. To get into the monument, there’s a nice ride by train that, during 20 minutes, it crosses Mata Atlantica until Corcovado’s top. The internet connection up there is good fre wi-fi and is a very safe place and LGBT friendly.

Can not come to Rio without visiting
May 2021 • Solo
The most associated symbols of the city for good reasons. You never realize how high it is until you come up here. Another place to see spectacular views of the city.

Crist Redeemer and gorgeous Corcovado
Feb 2021 • Solo
Rio de Janeiro is the only city in the world where in its geographical center there is a nature reserve or Tijuca National Park, that is, a real wild jungle in the center of the metropolis. In turn, the center of the park is Mount Corcovado with the world famous
the statue of Christ the Redeemer visible from almost anywhere in the city. The height of the mountain with the statue is 710 meters.
In the 20s of the last century, the future park began to be cut down for building with rich cottages. Residents of Rio kicked out the mayor and all as one restored the deforested areas of the forest. At the request of the residents of Rio, the federal government created in 1961 Tijuca National Park, with an area of almost 40 sq. km, quite comparable to a city of 150 thousand people.
To visit Corcovado you may take the train or guided car, or taxi. All the ways very comfortable. The best day for tour is sunny one , but without heat haze. Then you be happy with overlook!

Um lindo passeio subindo até o Cristo Redentor,
Dec 2020
Awesome experience to be there. Can be detailed as man made God (marvel). Not to be missed, marvellous place in Rio. View of Rio and sugar loaf mountain from the mountain top is wonderful.

Statue is also visible from the coastline of Niteroi, from where you can see Sugar loaf mountain too. View after sunset is also wonderful, when the statue can be seen graced with white light. Amazing!!

Scenic train ride to the Redeemer
Mar 2021
We bought our tickets at the box office to take advantage of the senior rate, but you can also buy yours on line.

To get to the top, you can either take a mini van or the red, scenic train. We opted out for the latter, and were glad we did. The train itself is new, air conditioned and modern with many windows for your viewing pleasure, and to enjoy the ride through the dense forest. It's about a 15-20 min ride, with a couple of quick stops, where some people get on/off.

When you finally reach the top and get off the train, you can take the elevator, or walk up to reach the bottom of the statue. Choose a sunny weekday, and go early because its gets very crowded up there, even during the pandemic. You need between 1-2 hours to make the most of your experience. Enjoy!

Great hike to the Redeemer
Jan 2021
We did this as a hike in January (after covid had appeared but before Brazil's covid situation got bad).

Its possible to take a bus from the street to the Redeemer, but we did it as a hike from Parque Henrique Lage and loved it. The hike went through some ruins to a well-marked trail on a hill. From there, we hiked through some rainforest with great nature and views. The trail ended at a road, from which we finished the route to the Redeemer. The only tough part of the trail was where we needed to climb up some rocks. However, it wasn't too tough as metal handholds were provided.

Once we got to the Redeemer, the experience was incredible. Everyone else has already written about it, so I'll skip it and let you read their reviews.

Train to Christ
Mar 2020
Awesome view not only at the top but also on the train ride up and down. I recommend going on the earliest departure because it gets crowded fast.
