The oddly named Cinalandia is a busy mix of roads and pedestrian areas with views of some impressive buildings. The city assembly building is bettered by the National Library( unfortunately being renovated when we arrived- so screened) and the Theatre which is a very impressive...More

Took the Bonde from Santa Teresa and ended up here. This is a large pedestrian urban space with attractive architecture and a couple of museums worth visiting. Mostly we wandered and people watched, since it was Carnival and packed with visitors. Not sure of the...More

One of the most beautiful architecture in the city!! Very detail work and well maintained. There are a few buildings around the square also, but this one is definitely the outstanding one

This is a very nice square in the heart of downtown and where I love to start whenever I'm showing "centro" to visitors. There's lots around to see and visit (Theater, Library, Fine Arts Museum, etc), just be smart and keep a low profile when...More

This building is very elegantly and ornately decorated. I think it's the most beautiful building from the outside in Rio de Janeiro.

This is such a beautiful place in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, with historical ornate buildings. You can have a gourgeous view of the Sugar Loaf form the top of the Teatro Municipal staircase.

In addition to the very spectacular Teatro Municipal / Opera House, Cinelandia offers interesting classic and some Art Deco architecture set around a pleasant square. So named because there were many cinemas here in the '20's and 30's, it is easily accessible by Rio's excellent...More

Cinelandia is in downtown Rio and is the place where you can see the Portuguese influence by the architecture of the buildings around. This is also where the Municipal Theater is, really beautiful. You may try one of the typical Portuguese "botequins" to get a...More

Cinelandia is a must visit place when in Rio! It is full of people not only during the whole working day, but also on the evening. It is fun to sit down and just watch people, but also there are quite few buildings to be...More

Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born.
With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical
buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living
proof that the old and the new can live together
harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where
all major companies house their offices. However, the
region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like
