Quando fui lá estava fechado. Houve protestos em julho, e não dizem quando vai abrir de novo. The museum has been closed since July, when there was a protest and occupation. No information available on when it will open again.

The Museu do Indio stays in a very nice neighborhood, and is a kind of an oasis in the city. The exhibition (about pearls) was amazingly beautiful and well structured, and the team offered an outstanding welcome to the visitors. Unforgettable.

Went to museum. Hotel concierge didn't know it is closed for renovations April-Nov, 2013. Very nice person let us in to see the museum grounds and the small gift shop but couldnt go in to actual museum. Wish we could have seen more.

Unlike most museums, this one isn't a dry visual experience. The visitor enters into a semi-dark space, native music softly plays, and multi-media exhibits provide a dramatic impression. You don't just SEE native artifacts, you experience the culture that produced them. The collection itself, of...More
