Top ways to experience Copacabana Fair and similar attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
How to get there
  • Cardeal Arcoverde • 7 min walk

Copacabana Fair
Oct 2019
You see these stalls that come to life in the late afternoon and early evening.

Paintings, bags, maps fridge magnets, clothes from tee shirts to football shirts. All kinds of souvenirs and you might be able to haggle a price.

You will notice the same or similar items will pop up in other stalls further down.

It can get a bit hectic in the evening and we did visit it a few times and purchased some items.

Okay

We were staying just a few blocks from these stalls and, of course, gave them a look. Prices were reasonable and it was an easy place to grab a few trinkets.

Fine
Sep 2019 • Family
Good for a quick souvenir before you jet home, or a cheap t-shirt. One stall did sell nice dresses for girls (up to about 6yo I’d say), but our kids were too old already.

Small collection of stalls selling clothes, trinkets and souvenirs opposite Copacabana Beach.
Nov 2017 • Couples
This small collection of stalls is located on the Avenida Atlantica between the Rua Miguel Lemos and the Rua Almirante Goncalves on the opposite side of the street to the beach.

The stalls had a vast selection of T-shirts, scarves, clothes and a vast array of souvenirs and trinkets. A good number of the same articles we saw in other souvenir shops around the area and whilst we did not compare prices I don’t think you will secure too many bargains here.

Nice place for souvenirs
Aug 2017
It is a small fair located in the middle of the Avenida Atlántica. You can find a big variety of souvenirs much cheaper than in local attractions! So you might want to come here first before buying anywhere else. It is set only in the late afternoon evening.

Small market
Apr 2017 • Couples
This is a small market in the middle of the road on an island at Copacabana beach - possibly between posts 3-4. They sell items for tourists - t shirts, clothes, souvenirs etc. We only had a look as we were walking back to our hotel and I wouldn't make a special trip here.

A tourist place to buy a few souvenirs
Nov 2016 • Friends
This is a small tourist targeted market than sells a variety of souvenirs and crafts including late afternoon. If you are interested in buying last minute overpriced souvenirs this is a good choice

Night vendors
Dec 2015
We went for a late night walk and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the open air restaurants and bars as well as the vendors selling beautiful hand crafted art / jewelry and of course - T shirts LOL It was FUN! Day or night this place was enjoyable.

Cheaper than the shops
Jan 2016 • Couples
This is not an Artisan market - lets be very clear about that. However it is cheaper than the nearby shops - considerably cheaper.
So enjoy it for what it is I say, and don't get caught up in a puritan approach.
