if money is no object for you that is your place to be. Excruciatingly expensive still loved by all. just take a swim or observe the myriads of people passing by. Avoid the first row restaurants unless ofcourse money is no object to you.

Visited copacabana beach today and a few days ago. Very nice specially when the hotel provides sunbeds. Also nice to walk along the beache, daytime or night, just be aware of the hustlers around. They got me with spraying some kind of goo on my feet and then some dude came to wash my feet and flip-flops and demanding money... More

This beach truly represents the spirit of the city. Both locals and tourists spend time at Copacabana. A great biking, walking, and jogging bath run the entirety of the beach. If interested, you can participate in soccer, volleyball, or other sand sports. Very crowded on the weekends. Not bad during the week.

When compared to beaches in Kenya, which is where I'm from, this beach is far too "interfered with" (who ever decided to put a huge road between the hotels and the beach?? And where are all the palm trees?), and the sand is relatively course, and not white. Amazed by the skill level of the people playing forms football and... More

The Copacabana Beach is quite pretty to see. I would not recommend swimming in it as it is quite contaminated by many "items". Watch out for your personal property when out alongside the beach and even more so on the beach itself. There are many restaurants in front of the beach and some are quite good.

world known beach for tourists, but I found it like many other with beach-side activities. I loved most the practice of football, volleyball by hundreds of local people Evening time, it comes alive for few hours when roadside restaurants open for business, colorful lights, wide variety of music, live performance included, souvenir hunting. The smell of food can make you... More

A definite must see. More popular and alive than Ipanema, Copacabana is a bay with amazing sights. Both beaches are divided in "postos" which are some kind of stations that the locals referre to in order to locate themselves on the beach. To spend the day at the beach I would recommend much more Ipanema even if Copacabana is a... More

This is a beautiful beach and an internationally famous landmark with great views and friendly people. Recommend the area in front of the JW Marriott for its fun options for food and drinks, tiled walkway/plaza in front of the beach and regular volleyball matches. A word of caution though - enjoy the beach and surroundings but be careful about the... More

Copacabana is the most touristic place in the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is really really wonderful. All nature is amazing. However, pay always attention to your stuffs. Actually, it is extremely advisable to don't carry anything with you when you walk alongside the beach.

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
