Copacabana is a beautiful beach with plenty to amuse you - sunning yourself, playing int he water, swimming, surfing, having food/drink. The sand looks clean and the beach is maintained. Be aware of the thieves though - one tactic they use (and they tried this...More

There's always something going on here and things to see - sand castles, volleyball, swimming! If you don't come here what's the point in going to Rio?

I'm a first timer on the Copacabana but am very impressed. A long and beautiful beach complimented by beautiful people, both young and old. The weekend exclusion of traffic on the beach front adds to the amenity of the area, allowing Rio de Janeiro to...More

The beach and its amenities are wonderful. The little urchins running up and down stealing anything that they can see on tourists and every idiot with a hat or beads bothering the patrons on the beach is terribly annoying. I can't believe that for such...More

The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional

We were there in April. Didn't see or hear concern. No mosquitoes. Nothing.

Hi, I'm planning to go to Rio next February, and wanted to go for a swim in Copacabana beach. Is the beach water safe, I heard mixed things, some say you can catch a virus if you go in the water and Some say its clean. What is it? I think maybe the locals don't catch anything as they are use to it. But tourists can catch things. Not sure?
