We were touring with a small group and our guide arranged for us to arrive at the top just before sunset. We were able to see the city before and after sunset and also to see the lights coming on at Christ The Redeemer statue. It was a beautiful sight and the crowds were much smaller then they would have... More

Excellent view of Rio and the Redememer from there. A bit crowded but lifts up and back are pretty fast.

You need to be there early. The place is great for sunrise and a lot of people wanted to see this place. The bar on the orther mountain is amazing even though a little bit hefty on the price. Overall, the experience was great and I have tons of pictures in these 2nice mountains.

There are better views over Rio which are free of cost. We queued a long time to pay a too high amount of money for going up a hill with too may tourist and Brasilian families doing a "typical" day trip.

This view should not be missed if you are in Rio de Janeiro and it is nice not only at sunset, especially because then, there are lot less people.

Make sure when you are up at the top to go down the steps to the small bar area - a lovely haven of peace . Avoid late afternoon trip as it often rains or visibility is reduced

They are very steady and reveil fantastic views the higher You get including Copacaban, which cannot be seen from Corcovado Mountain. On the top there are stores, a coffee shop and restrooms. A Must when in Rio for the first... More

We went up in the evening to watch the sunset. The views from the top are amazing. There is also a bar at the top to sit and have a drink with views over Copa Cabana beach.

Pão de Açucar is a must see when in Rio. The views to the busy Santos du Mont airport, bay of Rio, Copacabana beach and the city are just too breathtaking from there! Get up there and you won't regret it.

Staying in Urca

Neighbourhood Profile
Urca
Urca is one of the oldest areas in Rio. Known for its incredible views of the city, the neighbourhood runs along Guanabara bay, providing visitors with an opportunity to watch the sunset from one of Rio’s greatest natural treasures: Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao de Acucar). It is said that the locals in Urca are “bon vivant,” which is one of the reasons the area attracts people of all styles and ages. Urca is the perfect place to take a stroll and appreciate the area’s beautiful architecture, enjoy a cocktail and some delicious seafood pastries at a bar, or bring a bottle of wine and enjoy it while sitting anywhere along the stone seawall known as the “mureta.”
