One of the oldest libraries in Rio, the building was restoredand is very well preserved. The librarians are kind and helpful. Worth the visit.

The place is a hidden gem. It's architecture and decorations are fascinating, down to most intricate details. It's maintenance is somewhat lacking, however. When we visited, some maintenance work was being done. So, hopefully, the maintenance will improve. Still, very much recommended.
