This is a really cheap visit for such a spectacular view. Depending on how you chose to get to the bottom of Vidigal (bus or uber/taxi) it could be as cheap as R$4 or something around R$50 depending on where you are. Once you get...More

For some stunning view over Rio, get to the bottom of the Vidigal favela (don't worry, it's safe), ask the official motoboys on the square next to the police station to take you up to the Trilha Dois Irmaos and have a wild ride up...More

Bus trip to the beach, then crazy motorbike taxi ride up the hill on bumpy road via Favela. One hour of hiking in the heat through rainforest to come here and see the view. It's unreal. Great adventure! I had read about this place before...More

I did 3 main viewpoints during my week stay in Rio De Janiero. Like most people I went to Christ the Redeemer, the Sugarloaf mountain but unlike most people I came here. That was their mistake as of the 3 this is the best. For...More

We had been recommended this hike by a friend who said it gave the best views of Rio. The hike itself is only a couple of hours but allow yourself time to actually get there. We got a taxi from Ipanema to Vidigal favela which...More

We hiked to Sunrise at the two brothers and it was so beautiful! We did it through "Hike to Sunrise" (look for them on Instagram), and they were excellent. Some people had done it on their own, which you could do as well. The hike...More

This is a cool place to visit. It's a bit different than most hikes in Rio. You have to go through a favela to get to the entrance of the trail. The favela has been pacified and they actually offer transportation up to the trail...More

Is there any requirements to do this hike? My friend and I are planning to go to Rio & I would love to do this hike but my friend has a disability (has one good arm to use but doesnt have strength in the other arm due to cerapalsy). We are limited to what we can do on our trip because of this. I really want to do this hike and I know she would too.

There are some (minimal) steep and slippery parts in the hike, however not so much that it requires actual climbing and use of more than one hand. Your friend should be fine if they just take their time as they can just... More

Hi, I will be in Rio next week (April 10 - 16) and would like to do this hike but I want to carry a day pack so I can conceal a rather expensive Canon DSLR (and some water, haha). Has anyone had any issues walking through the favela with a day pack? I'll be with my brother, so I won't be alone. Any thoughts? P.S. Camera is fully insured through travel insurance but I don't want to knowingly put myself at risk or my camera in serious danger of being stolen, if I can avoid it.

Like most of the travellers mentioned, this place is quite safe. The path we used had a police authorised biker who gave a hike till the start of the trek, riding through favela. I enjoyed the bumpy bike ride through slopes... More
