Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I´ve been there several times. This year it got really quiet. The place seems run down. It s a pity. It s famous for being unsafe but I guess if there were more people going it would get better. There was a lot of security but they stay near kids playground and restaurants. The government should place security all around so people enjoy this place again. There are wild horses and we fished with local friends. We had a fantastic time.

I wouldn't recommend it, I was there with a Brazilian from the area, there was no security that I could see and the area seemed sketchy

I like the dunes and the lake
abit run down now

weekend is best time to go because the locals are there
do not walk on the dunes too far away from the lake (safety issues)

bar/restaurants there
so visit and spend an afternoon there

Abaeté Lagoon used to be an abandoned place where you might be assaulted and washing women came to wash clothes. Now it is developed and washing is prohibited. It has become a place for weekend family outings, with many simple restaurants with lots of music -- most restaurants feature "arrocha" duos(popular nordestino dance music). You can take a dip in the lagoon, sunbathe on the white sand, have a beer and moqueca, buy an acarajé... but not much else. Compared with the popular beaches of and around Itapoan, Abaeté is a lot quieter, much more local and family-oriented.

It was a place to go in Salvador, but it isn't anymore. It's dangers, durty and when you arrive you gonna ask: what am I doing here. Please, don't wast your time going there.
