Interesting place but everything is in Portuguese. You will need an English speaking tour guide. Luckily my wife is a Brazilian.

NO cover fee to enter, worth visiting. Gives you bit of an idea how the place looked like 500 years ago. Walking distance from city centre - around half an hour.

My husband and I visited the Centro Historico whilst on our honeymoon and its definitely an interesting place. Alot of history to be discovered with good foods, entertaining dance and unusual stalls. Definitely recommend to visit the museum and church whilst here.

It was great to get a glimpse of the early history of Brazil. We had a guide and it is worth it to really appreciate the history of the place. There are old churches, houses and a prison. The view is really nice as well.

About first urban portuguese colonial people... You can understand all history about first coming to brasil. Nauticos... About cabral .. Wars between indios and nauticos. You can see all timeline... I like it... You have to see museum also.

Expensive food and a lot of Argentinians in mobs looking for drugs, period. I was really really really happy at this specific day so that didn't concerned me at all. Wouldn't go back. I was told that this weird situation is actually frequent. So... No.

I found the history of the arrival of Portuguese interesting and wandering the grounds of the first settlement. Plenty of photo opportunities and local artifacts to buy at reasonable prices..

It's a very beautiful place. There are some houses built around 1530, three churches, and a delightful view of some Porto Seguro's beaches. It's recommended to accept the help of a guide, that charges by around BRL 30 to tell you all the things, even...More

While not nearly as interesting as the centro historic of Salvador, this small hilltop settlement is worth visiting. The view is wonderful. The houses charming.
