This zoo was part of our "Best of Manaus " tour and I wouldn't recommend it. Too many unhappy animals in cages. Only the monkeys had room to be free. Not a lot to do in this town so I think the zoo was added in desperation.

I was just exploring the grounds of the Tropical Manaus Ecoresort and stumbled across this. My first sight was of the Jaguar and I literally almost lost my breath. You'll likely never get a chance to be so close (and unguarded) to such an impressive predator. All of the other animals were neat too, but those jaguars, wow! I am... More

A well`-planned and wooded walk through the zoo. Nice, clean walkways. But I always hate to see the big animals, especially the jaguar penned up.

During or visit to Brazil we were about 400 miles west of Manaus on the Amazon river and we saw a jaguar early one morning. He was feeding along the river about 200 meters away. Our second time was here and we were about 2 meters from the jaguar. Very beautiful and healthy. Several other animals, several species of monkeys... More

Likely your only chance to see wildlife unless you go DEEP into the region. Easy walk and viewing, Not crowded. Minimum wildlife however interesting. Handicap access Appears to be part of a military installation.

I think this is the zoo maintained by the military. Inexpensive and kept very clean. Nice displays. Great for children.

The zoo by contrast to the hotel was well maintained. I do wish the jaguars had a larger area. The small area for the two jaguars seemed quite small for these majestic creatures. The zoo features several kinds of monkeys, including some that were wild and not in cages, capybara, macaws, and several other species. Small for a visit if... More

The small zoo, attached to the Tropical Hotel tries it's best to be an attraction. The animals are in spacious cages, but you have the feeling that they are not happy. Grounds keepers work to keep the area looking nice.
