The highlight building in Manaus. Definitely worth a visit. The building has been restored to much of its original state. You get a ticket and then can enter and browse around.

Great to get to know a bit of the oppulency of Manaus lifestyle when it dominated the rubber market. I'd strongly recommend the guided tour, as details of the theater are explained in depth.

Perfectly pleasant. Unless an opera buff, read about the history online and then enjoy 10mins of aircondotiong looking around this impressive building which recalls Manaus’s far more prosperous days of old.

What an amazing edifice. It is beautifully decorated and a real show place. The craftsmen were so talented. Built in 1890s . Set in a lovely square with other things and old architecture to look at and enjoy.

We enjoyed our tour of the Teatro, which combines a history of the place and views of many of the floors. It takes a bit of time, between buying the tickets and waiting for the tour to start, as well as the tour itself. We...More

We took the tour and saw two different Christmas shows. It is pretty amazing to think that this was built in this remote location in the late 1800's. The rubber barons wanted to have the culture of Paris in Manaus, so almost all of the...More

The Teatro Amazonas will be on most people's list of places to see in Manaus because there is nothing quite like it in the whole of the city and it is a symbol of a bygone age. It was built in 1896 when Manaus was...More

There was a ramp access to the side when we visited last February - not for a performance but my husband was able to get in to see the auditorium but maybe need to request special seats as we do in the uk anyway

As other responders have said, you'll need to go to the theatre on arrival, or to the tourist information office on the opposite side of the theatre square. There are some free performances of music and drama. The free tour... More
