This beautiful church (basilica?) sits opposite the Teatro Amazonas and the eponymous park with its wave-like cobblestones imitating the white and black waters nearby. The church interior has some interesting and quite beautiful side chapels, while cthe soaring dome is painted with angel-murals. There is a notable absence of ornate, rococo-like ornamentation, but one can't escape the two gorgeous crystal... More

The church is situated near the Amazon Teatro and is open all day. It is one of the most beautifull historic buildings in Manaus. At night you can enjoy the special light effect on both the church building as on the Amazon Teatro by sitting in the square. A photo of this iconic place is a must in your photo... More

The exterior is fairly plain but is really nice inside and well worth a visit. We arrived just after noon on a Monday when mass was being held and there were great acoustics. It was great to see the church full to overflowing, but we didn't stay too long so as not to intrude. Would love to go back again.

as a fan of church interiors this was an amazing find. It is ornate in the style of Latin American Catholic buildings but is special for the lack of gaudiness which often accompanies such churches. the walls and ceilings are decorated in the most tasteful and elegant paintings and it must rank as one of the most beautiful churches in... I was on the way to the main street, and this church looked so beautiful with night sky. Located in just next to the 'Amazon Theater', it made me feel like I'm in an European country.

Waiting for the guided tour of the Teatro Amazonas, we visited Saint Sebastian church that is located on the same main square of Manaus. Beautiful and originally decorated interior.

Located in center of Manaus, the architecture of the building is beautiful. While I was visiting Manaus, they were celebrating Dia da Consciência Negra. This a must see place to see many historical buildings.
