We visited anavihanas archipelago on a day tour from anavilhanas lodge. It is such a beautiful calm place. You can get lost among the islands unless you know the routes well. There is wild life but difficult to view .Night safari and early morning are best time to view wild life like caimen, dolphins, birds etc. .Sunset view is breath... More

The city do not offers any infrastructure for tourists: there is not much places to eat and an expensive and good floating restaurant. The view of rivers beaches is beautiful. I recomend contact Nilson to take a taxi from Manaus to Novo Airão for R$45. Telephones: (92) 99191-9221, (92) 99191-9402, (92) 99221-5147. Ceará (a native man) offers a good trip... More

A trip down the Rio Negro was an absolute pleasure, to see the small canoes with the local fisherman out on their everyday routine of fishing these dark brown waters. the caimans shooting into the waters when our boat would sail past, the sounds of the night and the frogs and snakes hidden in the branches of the trees. breathtaking... The Anavilhanas is an amazing natural wonder - a network of islands that are 'flooded forests' every year in the wet season, before becoming actual islands in the dry season. The Rio Negro is many kilometres wide in this section and when we went (early August), there were still wide waterways between patches of forests although I was told that... More

We based ourselves in the town of Novo Airao for a few days, and took a day trip out into the Archipelago with Antonio, who we met at the port. To see the river stretch over the horizon, between the dozens of islands on either side, is truly a unique sight. We visited the small community of Santo Antonio, where... More

I spent 4 days in a ship that went around rio negro. So this was included. I'm not sure how it would be for anyone staying at manaus ou in a ecoresort thats further away. But i can assure that if manageble, its a well worthy experience

We were privileged to spend to spend 4 days in the magnificent park. It is not that difficult to get to yet certainly off the beaten path. The Jungle Lodge we stayed at is right at the edge of the park and therefore most of our activities were within it. It is beautiful (and relatively bug free!), with many things... More
