Start the $20 walking tour at the HQ of Historic Alexandria with a chatty docent who ends up at Washington's pew at her own parish church, a charming building with memorials also to Robert E Lee.

We recently attended a Sunday morning service while in town for the day and were impressed by the sermon and music as well as the friendliness of the parishioners. If I lived in Alexandria, I would be a regular worshipper at Christ Church. Beautiful and...More

I used to love this historic church used by General George Washington for over 20 years and General Robert E Lee (boyhood home blocks away). Historical plaques honoring both were in the church recognizing both. Inexplicably the historic plaques have been removed by the church...More

The grounds of the church are beautiful at night. Wish we could have toured the church but it was closed.

Beautiful old church that includes both George Washington and Robert E. Lee's pews. Lots of history. Beautiful gardens on the side. Site of Washington's funeral. Definitely worth the stop

We love Christ Church in Alexandria. This is a modern Episcopal Church in an historic setting, with lovely grounds. The people there are friendly, and signs of colonial times add to the overall feelings of inspiration.

Radical leftists running the church wish to erase history. Utterly shameful that the first President of the United States who attended services here for 20 years would be disrespected. I will never set foot in this church... More

There is street parking, We walked from our hotel. Another option is using the free trolley that runs up and down King Street and walking about two blocks.
