Great dive venue with great bands and amazing sound. Smell of bar rot, smoke, and great vibes. Definitely encourage you to bring cash, however, as running a tab requires you to hand your credit card to the bartender and they keep. Not accusing anyone of anything, however, after running a $30 bar tab there we found out a 1/2 hour... More

Saxon is known for the music, and it will not disappoint! Live music every night of the week. Smallish place with stage right next to the bar. There is supposed to be a food truck service, but "the guy was not working" the night I was here. Decent selection of local craft brews. Good ambiance overall, but be sure to... More

Had a great time at Saxon Pub earlier this month. Stopped by for some music and a beer (or two) and really enjoyed it. Old, dark and very comfortable. Especially enjoyed John Gaar and his band.

This unassuming pub is a great place to come for some good music. A lot of the acts play for tips, so there is no cover charge. In our 12 days in Austin we came here 5 times! I also noted that it was on the Austin Music Tour route. Must be good and authentic.

I went to the Saxon Pub with Austin Detours and saw the fantastic Shelley King play. The place has a great atmosphere and a warm welcoming vibe. You would be comfortable on your own or in a group and are able to sit, have a drink and relax listening to the music. It seems to be a place where everybody... More

Went Saturday night and caught Guy Forsythe pumping out some amazing authentic blues. This is what the Austin music scene is all about. Only con was the parking. People were friendly, atmosphere was electric and will definitely be back.

We visited during a live music crawl and were lucky enough to hear Clay McClinton. Great band! Seems like this place is known for famous band and musicians. We enjoyed our visit there and it was our favorite venue of the 3 we visited. Check it out!

Came here with longtime locals or would never have found it. There is a group, that is always changing, called the Resentments and they couldn't have been better. Just a little club with a big welcome - if you like music and want a casual/funky place - at a most affordable ($10) price - this is the place

The Saxon Public is nice for what it is. What is it? It's a little bar on S. Lamar in Austin, TX. With short set multiple performers The Saxon is as good as who you are there to see. In other words, if you have a artist you like playing there its a great place to watch them. With nothing... More
