This is a quite gem in west central Austin. Great for a scenic walk alone, with a date, or a family.

We've been frequent visitors to this park for over 30 years. Great no-cost place to take children or out-of-town guests. Wander the property and enjoy the gardens, pea fowl and turtle ponds or take a trail down to the Laguna that is part of Lake...More

We just happened upon this place after a visit to the Austin Contemporary down the road. The peacocks drew us in. The small grounds are picturesque and the peacocks and peahens provide many good photo ops. And, of course, the free admission sealed the deal.

I loved seeing the peacocks, the lily ponds, the gardens. The hiking trails were well defined, quiet, peaceful.

This is a lovely stop off when visiting the contemporary art museum. Spring is especially good, with newly blooming gardens & resident peacocks in mating displays!

We were driving down from very crowded Mount Bonnell, close to sunset, when we happened upon Mayfield. Perhaps because it was so late in the day, there were very few people around, but plenty of peacocks! We didn't have time to check out the trails...More

This is a fun place to visit. You can see over a dozen peacocks roaming the grounds, flying into the trees and roosting on the pergola beside the house. One guy fanned out his tail as a female strolled by, but she didn’t seem as...More

From where I parked, the trails were on the right, and the cottage was on the left. I added a photo (likely still being reviewed by Trip Advisor) to help clarify.

Is this park free, if not how much just to see and take pictures? Thank you, Jhughes

This park is free and a great place to spend a day. You can also reserve the house for events, info on that is on the Parks and Recreation website. Great for weddings or family parties.
