More
The Contemporary Austin reflects the spectrum of contemporary art through exhibitions, commissions, education, and the collection. The museum has two distinct yet complementary locations, the Jones Center downtown and Laguna Gloria, a fourteen-acre site on Lake Austin, which is home to the Driscoll Villa, Gatehouse Gallery, the Art School, and the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria. Exhibitions at The Contemporary Austin - Jones Center change approximately three times per year. Visit our website for information on current exhibitions.

This had exhibitions demonstrating that not all art appeals to this reviewer. The upside down urban video was at least understanding whereas the abstracts that dominated floor 2 were at best appealing to peopke with a different taste At least it is free on Tuesdays

I love museums and I love art so I was super excited to visit and see what this museum had to offer. The admission price was only $5 and the large art pieces were unique. Unfortunately it wasn't a great experience with the security lady...More

We paid $10 dollars for 2 adults to go into a contemporary museum. The museum had a first floor exhibit which was composed by a maze (stillo in construction) with 4 displays, then we went to the second floor expecting to see a museum and...More

Try to go on Tuesday when it is free admission. Currently there is a really wild and fun exhibit by the lead singer of Devo. There are pipe organs he made out of discarded tubes and whistles and there is an interactive loft at the...More

I went to the Contemporary in December during their Holiday celebration. It was so much fun walking around the museum, participating in the activities and just hanging out on the rooftop. I cannot speak to what it is like the rest of the year, but...More

We visited yesterday to view the current exhibition "Strange Pilgrims" which was interactive and quite interesting. The usd5 fee also gives you access to the Laguna Gloria site which is worth the drive ftom the city.

There are two rooms with minimal art. $10 for a couple (mandatory, no longer donation-based). See picture, that's about the extent of the first floor.

We lucked out in the timing of our visit. A new exhibit of Robert Therrien's work had just opened the night before so admission was free. The venue is small but well laid out, we spent about an hour there and felt like we spent...More

If you like contemporary art and interesting architecture, you should stop in to Arthouse when in Austin. There are also special events and the rooftop space is particularly cool - it has a nice view of the city.
