    Sunday Brunch was Great
Beautiful hotel with so much history. We went for Sunday brunch, it was delicious. We also went one evening for a quick dinner at the hotel bar before a concert, I would not recommend that, food was not great

    Old School Hotel
Super cool hotel! Looks to look at in this old historic hotel. I did not stay here but I had to walk in and check out the decor and articular based on the reviews and how it looked in person from the outside. I did eat at the restaurant and it was good but not great. There are better places to dine in Austin but the experience was still worth it.

    Oldest hotel in Austin
This is not a review of a hotel stay, just a visit to the building. This hotel is a fine example of the great architecture and design of the late 1800’s. The columns, ceilings, floors, staircases, furniture and decorations are fantastic. We sat in the upstairs lobby/restaurant for a while, just relaxing, as the bar wasn’t open. If you like old buildings, this is a great place to explore.

Gorgeous Hotel, but very pricey food and drinks.
This hotel is a must see for the architecture alone. However, I'm not sure if I'd eat there again. We had breakfast one day at The Bakery at the Driskill, and I can only describe it as expensive chaos. We placed our order with the barrista, got a number, then discovered that there were absolutley no seats to be had. We ended up sharing a common table with four twenty somethings who spent the whole time complimenting each other on their selfies and voting on which ones to post. My American breakfast was mediocre. We also spent some time one evening at their famous bar, which is definitely worth a look for it's amazing architecture. Again, very pricey. One margarita, one beer and a bowl of truffle popcorn, set us back about $50.

    Delicious and Unique
Not a review of the hotel, but the cafe. It is an odd little place where you stand in line to place your order for food, coffees, drinks, etc. After ordering you go find a seat and put a stick with your number on it - no rhyme or reason, but it works. Food was outstanding (eggs Benedict and all American of two eggs, bacon, toast). I don’t know how they do it, but server went right from kitchen counter to our table without having to look around for us (my wife watched). Definitely worth a morning meal.

Popped in for a mooch about and a drink.
We ended up wishing we had stayed here for a few days. Completely different atmosphere from our own 5* hotel. It is an old Hotel with oodles of character, loved the lobby and the bars. You are allowed to have a good look round, I think they even do a free tour. We had breakfast at their 1856 (??) cafe and it was wonderful. The Hotel has a wonderful vibe from a bygone era, you feels as if you've gone back in time. We loved it.

    WOW!!!
This was my favorite experience in Austin! What a beautiful hotel!!! All of the staff was very welcoming and friendly. The coffee shop was adorable and everything was beautiful and delicious! The bar and lounge open at 2pm- it would be a great place to have a glass of wine. I wish we stayed overnight!

so much took place w/in these walls and it is well worth it just to visit to get a feel for the history of the state and Austin.
This is one of those "if these walls could talk" places that is well worth a visit just to experience the "aura".

Good atmosphere. Not as family friendly as other venues but very enjoyable. Drinks are excellent. Very good location downtown.

This really is a unique and beautiful space, just be ready for dead animals on all the walls but you know, we’re in TX. Everything else about it was cool and one of the rooms is supposedly haunted! OOOOoooOOoooo.

It’s very expensive to stay in so if money is nothing to you then it’s worth it, wooden floors and beautiful rooms. If expense matters, it would be a nice place to get tea and coffee with a friend, solo or maybe a date. Don’t bring an animal lover though.

There is no restaurant in the hotel, just a starbucks like order and sit place. And that's actually the best part of the review!

The room is old and tired and tiny. We are two people and there is one nightstand? Where am I supposed to put my glasses and water? The bathroom is weirdly off center and you can't close the door if you are using the toilet Shameful for the price they are charging. Go elsewhere - Fairmont, W and Westin are all far superior.
