If you're an Austinite, or even a Texan, you've probably seen the Pennybacker bridge in photos, paintings, and on TV pretty often. I live here, and I really love looking at, driving over, and even just seeing pictures of this bridge. It's just beautiful! If you're in Austin, definitely plan to go across this great icon!

This bridge is frequently seen on TV and is a cool view over the Colorado River. The traffic can sometimes be a little heavy so go during the middle of the day.

My son suggested we go on a hike before he left for work. The entrance to this hike is a little hidden. Cars are parked before the bridge. A sign states there is 'No parking on the R.O. W.' which does not mean row but Right of Way...So park with the row of cars. We climbed upon the boulder steps.... More

Truly an Austin landmark! Be sure to hike up to the top of the mountain on the 2222 side of route 360 for a fantastic view. Very easy and enjoyable hike for even novice hikers/climbers. Be sure to have your phone for great picture opportunities up top.

It was a fun little hike to see the bridge. The hike would not be for everyone since it is not a paved trail and it is a little steep.

The Pennybacker bridge on Loop 360 crosses Lake Austin. It is a nifty design and interesting to look at as you speed across. It is neat to see it from a boat in the lake as well. I have no clue who Pennybacker was but they must have been famous.

The view is nice for pictures. The walk up the side of the cliff was a little dangerous without side bars for the little kids. Wish that they have a better parking spot and marker off of the highway.

I highly recommend going out there on a full moon day. It was the best experience I ever had. If you go at around 6 p.m in august or September, You could see the moon rise on one side and sunset on the other side. It is a must go place.
