Having lived in Austin for years I probably am not the best to write a review of South Congress. Austin was once a great small city. Now it caters to tourists blowing in for a weekend or a festival to take Instagram pics. South Congress...More

South Congress is the best street to walk in Austin! There are restaurants, pub, live music, street performers, food trucks, and shopping. Botticelli’s is one of the best Italian restaurants. Guerro’s is a fun TexMex place. If you want to skip a restaurant, there are...More

To appreciate SoCo, park at one end of So. Congress and walk one side of the street then return on the other side. You will take in a mile of an eclectic collection of shops, restaurants and entertainment near downtown Austin. A great way to...More

Arrived in the SoCo area on a Saturday afternoon. This area was full of eateries/bars, shops, and food trucks. Lots of folks out and about. Greatly enjoyed visiting Guero's for lunch & music at The Oak Garden stage. The Continental Lounge provided some great music...More

This is a vibrant area in South Austin characterised by individual, quirky shops and some great restaurants. There is also an abundance of great 50s style neon signs and artwork on the sides of buildings. The shops sell everything from vintage clothes, unusual items, encrusted...More

SoCo is an interesting street with with alternative shops nestled next to more traditional ones selling cowboys boots and hats. For those travelling from the UK it is more Camden that Covent Garden.

We had an excellent time on South Congress! There are a lot of great food places to eat in addition for shopping. The only bad thing about this was that there aren't any bathrooms around. Check out SoCo Cafe!

I think it is a happening place. There are great hotels, shops, artist stalls and markets on some Thursdays and Sundays, interesting stores, and boutiques. It is fun to stroll, look, and see funny things.

Parking is very hard to find. You may have to park down the street and walk. If you are staying downtown, take a cab (I believe Uber is being discontinued in Austin). Getting there early in the day is better for parking... More
