A hoot to visit

The building itself seems to be on its last legs but the dance and party atmosphere was great and the band Billy Mata and the Texas Traditions were absolutely awesome.

I have no idea how long the Broken Spoke has be around but I can tell by the setting it's been a long time. The building sits on a gravel lot surrounded by modern building. Everything about this building looks original. You enter the restaurant then pass thru to the dance hall. The dance hall is much larger than the... More

Although The Spoke has a small dance floor, there always seems to be plenty of room for one more couple to get moved by the good music and do a little two-step, waltz or swing. Thank you, Mr.White, a real gentleman cowboy!

This stop should be listed under "things to do", you can't go in without spending the necessary time to see all of the memorabilia that covers the walls. History lesson in country music!

Required stop for out of town friends. Iconic place made a memorable evening with great photos for my friends from Portugal to show friends back home. We took lessons and danced with Cowboys.

Honky Tonk heaven. Bring your dancing shoes. We missed the dancing lessons at 8:00 p.m. Next time we won't.

I was advised by a local to check out this place and I'm so glad we did. We didn't eat but enjoyed the entertainment and dancing in what is a real 1950s honky took dancehall. If you are in Austin and want a great night out you can't go past the Broken Spoke and enjoy it for what it is... More

New Yorkers in town for a wedding. What a blast we had learning to two-step and watching the cowboys. Authentic old-fashioned Texas Dance Hall.....loved it!
