Located west of the I-35 on the corner of East 4th Street (one way westbound) and Red River Street (with open lot parking across the street) the AUSTIN VISITOR CENTER is the ideal place to organize your city tours. We like to take our guests on the Double Decker Austin Tour bus. The center provides clean restrooms, snacks, and gifts.

The visitor center serves as the checkin for a variety of tours, but to my surprise, was actually the site of a really great Austin and Texas-themed gift shop! We didn't look into taking any of the tours being offered that day (although the groups going on the tubing tour looked like they were about to have the time of... More

Very knowledgeable staff and friendly. Helped find a complete tour guide of Texas (very helpful book) when the hill country brochures were emptied. Parked in the parking garage above for about $12 for the day and hopped on the Double Decker tour bus to spend about an hour or more at each stop in a tourists must see. Wonderful commentary... Very nice welcome center, clean and comfy. People there are very very helpful guiding tourist. Gift shop has lot of interesting items. We managed to relax for some time, charge our phones, get the information, and could buy some souvenirs. The parking is on back side, they need to put some sign for it, i had to take couple round... Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We stopped to get some Austin gifts. 30 minute parking in the garage was $4.00 and gift shop was very reasonable. You can also book many tours from this location. Great place to begin your time in Austin.

We had booked a tour on line and were to meet our tour operator at the Visitor Centre. The place was easy to find, clean and had lots of places to sit and wait. My wife went to the gift shop while my friend and I went to talk to the visitor centre attendant. We got a couple of maps... More

There is a travel bureau here that has a lot of information on Austin and other places in Texas. There are exhibits on different floors that cover all aspects of Texas. Children's school groups are offered tours here too. Good recommendations on where to eat and what to see in Austin.

Was a great place to start our tour of the city, was very clean and trendy. Wish I could have picked up more information about not only the downtown and surrounding area, but the current events as well. Could have just been the crowd that made it feel like we couldn't find more information, but I just expected to see... More

Lots of tour options, cut gift shop. This is a great place to sign up for one of a variety of tours. The waiting area is comfortable. There is plenty of nearby parking, but you have to pay.
