I am a huge fan of architecture so upon planning my trip to Austin I knew that I was going to have to make it over to Bremond Block. I was a little disappointed, I guess I was expecting something more, but it truly is a block. The houses are beautiful and I enjoyed just walking in the shade of... More

The Bremond Block is located a few blocks south of the Travis County Courthouse. The area consists of a square block with homes of various styles of architecture once owned by members of the Bremond family. Some were designed and built by the same architect as the designer of the Governor's mansion. Others show some elements of Spanish and Greek... More

Parking is a bit tricky and there was lots of road work going on, but we did finally find a parking space. Walked around a few blocks and found some amazing homes. Had fun taking photographs. So happy they were able to preserve this area in the middle of new construction in the city. Fun to visit this area if... More

We were walking on 6th street and looked over and saw a big "fancy" house so we thought we'd check it out. We were pleasantly surprised by the historical architecture. The plaque explaining the houses was nice. It only takes 15 or so minutes to view, but if you are in the neighborhood and like architecture, check it out.

Frankly, I was a little disappointed by the Bremond Block. The houses are nicely kept and beautiful to look out. However, this quick walk around the block only provided me about 15 minutes of entertainment. It took me longer to get there on the bus across town. I probably would have been more pleased if I had taken the docent... More

If you are interested in architecture, definitely worth a stop. Parking on street and easy to walk around block to view all structures. Neighborhood is inviting. Gorgeous old oak trees can be viewed, too.
