This was fun and cheap!!

It rained when we went so the bats didn't fly much, but we had a blast even so! Our guide did a great job telling us about the history of the area as we floated down the river. I would highly recommend this for anyone!!

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry the bats did not cooperate but glad you enjoyed the cruise on the lake. The beginning of November is typically very spotty for bats as they start to migrate. Typical season is March through October. Hope we can get you out on the lake in the future! More

I took the bat-watching cruise on Capitol. This cruise is a definite must-do. I learned a lot about the native bats that live there. The tour guide was very knowledgable and friendly. The trip also highlighted other interesting facts about Austin. The price was very affordable. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Austin. Or even to the local residents.... More

This was a relaxing, fun tour. Jay was our guide and he was awesome! I thought this was a great deal and super affordable at only $10. I definitely recommend it!

We hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner with Capital Cruises and could not have asked for a more memorable event. It had been raining the week leading up to the wedding and we were so stressed because we had been looking forward to cruising down the river and showing off downtown Austin to our guest. 90% of our guest had flown... Took the bat tour mid October. Was a hot, 90+° evening, we saw minimal bats. The tour guide really tried to show us and tour lasted about 30 minutes longer than we expected. Saying that, it was $20 per person and the boat ride was great. Spectacular views and such great photos. I was disappointed in what I expected to... More

Thanks for the feedback! October is approaching the end of the season for the bats and can be a little unpredictable at times as far as the bat emergence. They tend to do their own thing sometimes. July-September have the best viewing but that of course varies depending on the weather and various other factors. We look forward to getting... More

We enjoyed the bat cruise. We have watched the bats from the Congress Street Bridge several times before so it was very cool to have the perspective from the water. It was a gorgeous evening so the lake was beautiful and the evening sky perfect. We went on a short tour of the lake first and it was fun to... More

The Bat Tour was a lot of fun! Before dark, they take you on a tour of Lady Bird Lake. We saw several points of interest, as well as egrets, herons, and geese (and doggies jumping in the lake). But the bats were obviously the best part! They get you right up to the Congress St. Bridge. We apparently came... More

The night was cloudy and we wanted to see the bats. I chose the cruise while friends chose to stand on the bridge. They didn't see a single bat because the dark sky served to camouflage them. I saw tons because our tour guide steered the boat so that we could see the bats exiting their roosts as they flew... More

Thanks for the review and feedback! You are exactly right about viewing the bats after dark! The view from the water is the only way to see them when they are emerging after sunset. We'll see you next time! More

I was so excited to see the bats. It was the only thing to do that people told me about when visiting Austin. Our boat guide was very informative and the cruise down Lady Lake was informative and peaceful. However, when it was time to see the bats I was a little disappointed. The guide moved the boat around a... More

Robin, sorry the bats did not cooperate that night. They definitely can be a little harder to see when they are coming out after dark. The tour is meant to be an hour in length and sometimes we go over that hour, but try not to stay out excessively late for the comfort of our patrons. Again, sorry the bats... More

While our driver was very nice & provided lots of info during the actual cruise, the bat viewing was very disappointing. He kept moving our boat around - back & forth under the bridge & even drove the boat so far in toward the shore that some people on the front roll had branches in their face. By the time... More

Thanks so much for the feedback! So sorry the bats did not cooperate that night. October can sometimes be a unpredictable month for the emergences as it is late in the season and the bats are about to migrate. Early March through April as well as July - September tend to be the best viewing months but we typically get... More
