Surprising robust collection for a museum of its small size. I've visited several times and it's always interesting. The installations are diverse and I've been introduced to some amazing artists. Well worth a visit if you're in Austin and want more from your time in the city than 6th Street.

Great way to spend a day. Being Mexican-American, I had the best time visiting this museum. Fantastic exhibits and very educational. Loved it

The Mexic Arte Museum is a modest place devoted to contemporary Mexican-influenced art. It is on Congress Avenue in the downtown area. Admission is usually $5 but is free on Sunday, when I visited (I did make an equivalent donation). There is a small gift shop. Most of the art fits in the painting category, but there were other free-standing... More

You gotta love art exhibitions that stretch your boundaries. The current pieces on offer at Mexic-Arte present the hispanic perspective on spirituality, life and culture as they clash and collude in today's world. Totally worth the time to step in and get cultured. And paletas!

We are big fans of Latin-American art--particularly Mexican art--and this small museum didn't disappoint. The featured paintings and displays were vibrant, creative and full of life, in the best Latin-American tradition. Very stimulating and rewarding visit.

We wandered by on congress street and stopped in. Unique art and a great gift shop. Free on Sundays!

Relatively small collection of changing exhibits. The display of various "Day of the Dead" altars (including one for pets) was interesting. Good for an hour or so of exposure to styles you might not encounter elsewhere.

We were thrilled with this gem of a gallery. Latino focused, wonderful art and I learned some history too. Well worth the modest admission price. Great gift shop too.

I love going to Mexi-Arte for their different shows and events. They put together a great Dia De Los Muertos parade and events every year.

We were walking towards the hotel when I had to stop and take some pictures of street art. Low and behold, there was an entire museum devoted to Mexican inspired street art by Mexican Americans living in Texas. Not only does it follow the "vibe" of Texas, but the pieces on display were incredibly well chosen and embodied a pop-art... More
