Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes.

The capitol dates back to the late 19th century, it’s very peculiar because it’s covered in red granite, making it a nice shade of pink. There is a visitor parking, which is free for two hours and the costs a small fee (compared to other parking garages in Austin). You have walk a while to get to the Capitol Grounds.... More

Impressive in history, architecture, stature and grounds. Open to the public all year. Free tours run all day don't miss out on the narratives on the importance of this capitol building and all the flags that flew over Texas. It felt like the White House of the West. After the tour continue to walk in the other areas and floors.... More

The State Capitol building is a gorgeous building by day and by night. The park area around the building is also lovely and really well kept. Definitely worth a visit.

Even if you do not have time to go inside the building, please visit the capitol grounds. You will find statues and information that explain Texas history. Definitely worth the time.
