A must for any local or visitor. Walk, run, and bike ride trails. Water and nature. What else can you ask for. Just stay out of the triple digits heat in the summer.

I am a fan of town lake for walking and running. FYI, the Rock is a great location to meet up with someone or just a relatively great place to stop and start for your solo run/walk. There is plenty of parking by Austin High...More

really is an amazing lake...has survived huge floods and the wipeout of the dam, the abuse of raw early Austin, ...and has a new life as the great liquid viewscape in and through the City

A nice place for relaxing, jogging.. picnic place, walking, or just sit and watch the DOWNTOWN skyscrapers.

Love love this place. Rented two kayaks (double/triple) and kayaked up and down Town Lake. Even my 4-year loved it!

Enjoy a quiet morning with a jog or just a walk to enjoy nature - watch getting the kayaks ready for the day or the swans gliding around looking for a meal. The cyclists and serious runners are out and about so know the rules...More

Austin is wonderful for many reasons, but this is the best part. New boardwalk, east of the Congress bridge is so cool. Great any time of the day. Go Walk or Run and watch out for the bikes!

This "lake" is really a wide place in the Colorado River. You can boat or partake of a number of water sports, but make sure it's open for that since there are times of the year when the lake is closed to water craft.

I always enjoy the ecletic mix of people in Austin and this is a good example of Austin at it's finest, bring the dog and stroll along!

This is the best place to be in Austin. It's cooler here, and there is so much to do. On land you can run, walk, or bike, and on the lake you can SUP, kayak, canoe, etc. We recommend it!

For swimming, definitely check out Barton Springs or Deep Eddy. I know paddleboarding is popular on Town Lake, and you can find rentals for paddleboards and kayaks.

Parking - Lots of it! Just depends on where you are staying or arriving along the 10 mile hike & bike trail around the lake. If east of IH-35, we suggest you Google the Austin Hostel and park near the lake on the south side... More
