I like the town lake best for its running trails, there are various distances and most of the tracks are under trees which is extremly valuable during the day and summertime. There are also other activites like rowing, boat tours etc. and of course the...More

Great trails along the Colorado River in downtown Austin. Use one of the dedicated lots or Zilker Park to access the trails and enjoy a walk or run. The trails are always teeming with people.

I walked down during my free time, while on a business trip. Nice diversion. I suggest taking a nice walk around the lake, if you have time. It's an easy walk. Wish I had time to take a kayak out. Maybe next time.

Town lake has an excellent walking trail around it's shores, which is an excellent location for some exercise, especially for travellers/tourists, where you can loosen up, and take in the excellent vista of downtown. Glad we did the circumnavigating walk.

One of my favorite places to go on weekends or take guests. There are trails that circle around Ladybird Lake that are family and pet friendly-- dirt path, even trail. Watersports are available such as stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and canoeing. A great place...More

For swimming, definitely check out Barton Springs or Deep Eddy. I know paddleboarding is popular on Town Lake, and you can find rentals for paddleboards and kayaks.

Parking - Lots of it! Just depends on where you are staying or arriving along the 10 mile hike & bike trail around the lake. If east of IH-35, we suggest you Google the Austin Hostel and park near the lake on the south side... More
